Infographics Out The Wazoo
When creating infographics, there are tons of tools and websites you can choose from. I decided to take a look at three different sites, tried them out and discovered some pros and cons of each.
Piktochart:
Pikotchart is easy to use and provides unlimited freedom when building and editing infographics. One of the aspects of the site that stands out is it's functional innovation and design flexibility. It helps the user to easily access ready to use graphics, charts and maps. It also has a high-resolution download. The icons and images can easily be added to the template and used in the creation of the data. However, it has it's flaws too, such as the inability to change the background color. The restriction makes it difficult for the user to experiment with colors, which are an integral aspect of infographics. On the other hand, Piktochart offers unlimited creation capabilities, access to all images, and an intuitive editor, which makes it stand out as one of the better infographic creation tools. An added bonus is that there is a free version available to use.
Infogram:
Infogram has been designed more for marketers, media companies, and business leaders. This tool offers the option for custom development, which allows the user to manipulate their own data for a visual presentation. Users can publish content, import data, code export and access more than 35 different chart types. However, some drawbacks are that some functionalities require the user to have a premium account in order to access premium themes, custom themes, team functionality, and different map types. The free account restricts the user to access only two map types, import data, and publish content and only 35 chart types. Therefore, the user is limited in terms of data manipulation when using the free version of this infographic creator tool.
Easel.ly:
Easel.ly is a simple and intuitive site developed for executives, educators, and students in the communication industry and users interested in sharing ideas and concepts. Users can create different types of infographics, add objects, and change the background and background color. In addition, it contains a text menu, which allows the user to insert texts anywhere in the data. The free version of the account allows for access to 60 images and 10 fonts that can be used in the text menu. The dashboard is user-friendly making it easy for the user to navigate the website. Some cons are there are only four chart types available in the free version. Another drawback I discovered is that it is easy to grab the wrong object when objects are placed near each other when using this tool.
When choosing the site I wanted to use in the representation of data from the Pew Research Center, I chose to use Piktochart. I chose Piktochart mainly due to the ease of use of the site. It is also easy to add objects, change the background color and customize aspects to fit the project. These aspects give Piktochart the advantage over other infographic creating sites and provides a better experience when it comes to data visualization.

Hi Lindsay! I also decided to use Piktochart for my infographic because it was a very user-friendly site. It allowed me to customize my project with its templates, designs, and illustrations. I loved your pictograph because the information about Americans and Twitter was very visually appealing, with great information.
